Spiegelworld has announced it will return to Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport for the third time. The carnival/DJ-concert series/burlesque show begins on August 6 and will run until November 2. Not only will Spiegelworld feature an astounding lineup of 50 bands and over 60 DJs over a 12-week period, they’re also setting up a beer garden at the waterfront locale. (Add Homer Simpson beer reference here.) The festivities start off with cabaret diva Meow Meow & Tony award winning performer Justin Bond followed by Amanda Palmer of the "Brechtian punk cabaret" duo The Dresden Dolls, who is preparing the release of the logically named album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, produced by Ben Folds. Perhaps more of interest to LWMB's readers is the news that Spiegelworld will host the North American debut of Headphone Disco as part of its DJ series. Says Spielworld chief Ross Mollison: “Imagine two DJs, two separate channels on wireless headphones, 1,000 people dancing, and absolutely no sound apart from the crowd singing along. It’s hilarious to watch and fantastically fun to participate in.” Spiegelworld's full lineup can be found here.
