Chardonnay Follow

Chardonnay has been declared the standout white variety at the Royal Queensland Wine Show with 15 gold medals awarded across three classes – one year old, commercial and two years and older. Chief judge Phillip John said overall there were more entries and medals awarded in the red classes but more Gold medals awarded in the white classes. “We are delighted with the improved quality of Chardonnay this year and Riesling has done well,” said John. Under the direction of John, 12 judges and four associates swirled, sniffed and sipped their way through 2366 wines from 216 Australian wineries in the Show hosted by the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland.
