Nicholas Bond Jr., a retired Sacramento State psychology professor whose research took him from military planes to blackjack tables in Nevada casinos, has died at age 85. He died July 25 of complications from a recent fall, said his son Jeff. Nicholas Bond Jr. Born: Oct. 21, 1922 Died: July 25, 2008 Remembered for: Longtime psychology professor at California State University, Sacramento; worked in London and Tokyo for the U.S. Office of Naval Research Survived by: Wife, Dorothy, of Sacramento; sons, Nicholas of Seattle and Jeffrey of Oakland; daughter, Elizabeth Kerkstra of Stamford, Conn.; and three grandchildren Memorial services: A tribute is being planned. Donations may be made to the University Foundation at CSUS for the Nicholas Bond Memorial Fund, a fellowship for graduate students in quantitative psychology, and mailed to Sacramento State Development Office, 6000 J St., Sacramento, CA 95819-6030; to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; or to any charity.
