Five people suspected of illegal gambling in South Austin were arrested last week and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, police said today. On Thursday, police found several gambling machines and more than $20,000 in cash at a business at 523 Thompson Lane, according to an arrest affidavit. Officials say Mi Cha Kim, 48, “was located in one of the rooms trying to hide forty-six $100 dollar bills down the front of her blouse,” the affidavit says. Investigators found Faye Hollowell, 45, hiding in the bathroom with a purse containing $8,899.00 and $1,000 in cash in an apron she was wearing. Chong Ho Kim, 54, was also arrested at the Thompson Lane address. On the same day, police arrested two men in connection with a business where they executed search warrants and found gambling machines, according to an arrest affidavit. Police did not say if the establishments were connected. Police said that at 720 Bastrop Highway, undercover investigators had seen Phillip Dayle Miller, 45, use a key to unlock money boxes from the machines. An arrest affidavit says that Juan Antonio Zendejas, 30, acted as a lookout for Miller. They have both been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. Zendejas was still being held at the Travis County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon. Chong Ho Kim Faye Hollowell Mi Cha Kim Juan Antonio Zendejas
