Budget deficit to reach $1.2 trillion

The federal budget deficit will rise to a record $1.2 trillion this year, and the tax cuts and new spending planned by President-elect Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress will push it higher, the Congressional Budget Office reported Wednesday.
