How To Clean Blood Stains

How to Clean Blood Stains
First things first. What we talk about how to clean bloodstains, we are not talking about situations where the police might be involved. As you probably learned from the popular television shows, cleaning bloodstains that are linked to a crime or even a potential crime is illegal. It is considered the destruction of evidence. If you have such a situation, you need to speak to a lawyer, not figure out how to get rid of bloodstains. With that gruesome caveat out of the way, let’s get to the best way to handle bloodstains.

The first key to dealing with bloodstains is to act quickly. If the bloodstains is on a carpet, there is one trick that almost always works. First, grab a towel and blot the area as quickly as possible to get off all excess blood. Next, grab some foamy shaving cream and apply it to the spot. Rinse off the stain and see how well it worked. If the blood stain remains, try applying hydrogen peroxide, sustaining quickly rinsing it off. If the hydrogen peroxide does not work, keep the stain moist and call in a professional cleaning service.

This next bit of advice may sound extreme, but it often works. If the blood is your own, and there is only a small drop or two, you can often suck the blood out of whatever it is on. Yes, just like a vampire. The saliva in your mouth will often interact with the blood and remove it. Very strange, but also very true. Oddly, this little cleaning tidbit was never mentioned in Bram Stoker’s Dracula! At least you know how Dracula always kept the room clean.
