International students in India find great learning prospects here. PCTE is an established choice by the foreign students in the Northern region of India. Twenty nine foreign students from four different countries joined the total of 56 foreign students of PCTE Group of Institutes in the academic session of 2010. Recently, the Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Dr. Rajneesh Arora came to visit the foreign students, interact with them, share their experiences, and ensure that they have a meaningful and learnable stay in India. Dr. Keya Dharamvir, Dean International Affairs, Punjab University, Chandigarh also joined the VC and the students for the afternoon. International students in India Dr. K N S Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of Institutes informed that the Foreign students were from four different nations, namely Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and Afghanistan. There were students from Uganda, Rwanda, Cameroon, Tanzania, Mozambique, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe already studying at PCTE. He added that these international students had joined various courses including MBA, MBA-IB, M.Sc. IT, BBA, BCA, and B.Pharmacy. Dr. Rajneesh Arora spent the entire afternoon interacting with the students. They shared their experiences vis-a-vis India, Ludhiana, and PCTE with the VC. Dr. Arora mentioned that PCTE was the only institution under PTU’s umbrella, which could and has continued to attract such huge number of foreign students for the past 7-8 years. PCTE group of Institutes have an MOU (agreement of cooperation) signed with Universidade Pedagogica, Mozambique. PCTE already has nine MOU’s signed with England, South Africa, and Pakistan etc. Dr Kang further added that Universidade Pedagogica is responsible for financing its staff members participating in various courses offered by PCTE Group of Institutes. Dr Kang informed that seven faculty members from the university joined PCTE for the current academic session. Five faculty members have joined in M.Sc-IT (two year course) and two have joined MBA. We understand the problems faced by international students in India and therefore, go an extra mile to make them feel home here, said the Deputy Dean of PCTE. The international student’s office at PCTE provides all types of support to the international students which ease their woes.
