In October of 2008, Apple changed the MacBook forever. An entirely new version was released, with an aluminum "unibody" case carved from a single piece of aluminum. The other dramatic change was the introduction of a glass cover on top of the MacBook LCD screen. This glass screen cover matches the screen design on the MacBook Pro and provides a super-glossy, reflective screen that shows dramatic colors. The MacBook LCD screen uses an LED backlight that contains no mercury, is bright and evenly distributed and is very environmentally friendly.

Soon after the new MacBook was released, TechRestore announced a repair program for the MacBook glass screen cover as well as a MacBook unibody LCD screen repair. Both Mac repair programs have been very successful and well received by customers throughout the United States. With the addition of the glass screen cover on the unibody Apple MacBook, it has increased the difficulty of repairing MacBook screens and both the glass screen cover and the MacBook unibody LCD screen repair require an experienced and Apple certified technician to perform.  Broken glass in MacBook unibody systems is becoming more common and TechRestore has designed a system to offer a "factory fit" repair that is not available from other Apple repair centers.

Another issue that customers noticed with the new MacBook unibody glossy screens was that they are very reflective and shiny. For some people, this is great and arguably the colors are brighter - when doing things like watching movies and viewing photos, the glossy screen is fantastic. But, when using the MacBook unibody with the glass screen cover and glossy screen, there is also a reflection that can be distracting. TechRestore remains the only company with a solution to this problem by offering an Anti-glare, matte finish screen replacement service for the MacBook unibody systems. The repair has been so popular and the quality of the work so good that TechRestore was awarded a MacWorld Expo best of show award at the 2009 MacWorld Expo show in San Francisco.
