It is more common than one might think for British young people to travel abroad and teach English during the year after they graduate from the university. Many find this to be an excellent way to see part of the world and to make some money in the process. In most cases, they return to the UK after their year abroad. However, some young people decide to remain in Korea for several years in order to gain a solid grasp of the Korean language. And many of these individuals earn a second income by providing Korean translation and interpreting services.
What is really attractive about teaching English in Korea is that the pay is generally quite good, teaching experience is not required and housing is usually provided. In addition, these people gain life-long friends and the chance to travel to places they might otherwise never see. If and when they do return to their home country, they have gained significant teaching experience along with the ability to earn an income by performing Korean translations.
