Christmas in Berlin Follow

In Berlin, the Christmas lights are in place, the trees decorated, and the lights have been tested to show Berliners what’s in store.  No doubt by the appearance of the shopping streets in Berlin that Advent is nearing with a vengeance.  It will still take a few more days, though until the city goes all out.  According to a German translation company, this year, Christmas lights will be illuminated on Monday.  But this year, the holiday season is coming a bit early compared to prior years.  In fact, the traditional German Christmas sweets, like Lebkuchen, Domino Stars and others, have been available in supermarkets for weeks.  The CEO of the largest shopping center in Berlin stated the reason for the early arrival of Christmas decorations is that people want to enjoy the anticipation and preparation for the holidays.  But the Christmas markets and lights shouldn’t just excite people, they should promote consumer spending.  However, this year, 50 percent of Germans will be spending less on Christmas gifts, according to statistics.
